I have some ideas and would like to start trying things out with code changes.

Does anybody have any suggestions on what the best development platform is for the RPI / Hyperion project? I have a Mac and VMware so I can virtualize almost any platform.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated

I do all mine on a pi3 that has OSMC and I use nfs root cos I don't trust as cards

    Incremental builds are quick

Regarding compile speed and Raspberry Pi i would recommend at least a Pi2, cause a Pi1 needs around 50 minutes for Hyperion and a Pi2 just 10 minutes.

I use my desktop linux system. I use hypersim as virtual leddevice and arduino+adalight to test serial and to see ot on my real lamp I send led data over network to my fadecandy server.

Compile is faster as on any pi and I have all my editors/tools that I usualy use for development
