I have absolutely the same problem
so sir, how you fix it? just adding the level shiffter?
Well i figure its probably one of two things or maybe the combination of both:
1. Added the level shifter into the circuit.
2. Added another 5V line towards the middle of the led strip as well as also connected the 5V and ground at the end of the led strip. This way the current of 5V is consistant throughout the whole led strip which i believe is deffinately helping in that sense that the led strip is behaving/responding to commands better.
Can u link me to the level shifter you use?
BTW, I notice when I connect the 5V at the strip end to DO or DI in the beginning all the led is bright blue.
Sounds like a really bad idea connecting the 5V to the DO or DI line of the led.
I bought the level shifter here: https://thepihut.com/products/adafruit-74ahct125-quad-level-shifter-3v-to-5v-74ahct125
I have the same problem
Can you add a photo or scheme of the level shifter integrated into the wiring?
Post #2 of this thread has a scheme.
Whats the best way to connect level shifter and all the wires? It seems like a lot of connections to the ground
I think these two post's well answer that. ( https://hyperion-project.org/threads/nuc-nodemcu-ws2813.2985/#post-11348 ). and ( https://hyperion-project.org/threads/nuc-nodemcu-ws2813.2985/#post-11351 )
However the scheme in post #2 of this thread is the wiring for apa102's & Rpi & level shifter (SN74HCT125).
Yes i run a raspberry pi 3 and apa102 leds
I checked that posts hut i dont how that are related to this issue
Anyways i think for the wiring i need a design board in order to have clean connections
I found this products
The level shifter
Not sure if this one will work as it has 16pin instead of 14
Board for connection
I’m noob about this electronics components so not sure if these will be enough
Thank you for the support
You may not need a level shifter. If your wiring is well done and led count is low (150 -\+). A level shifter is solution to specific problem (uncontrollable led's due to long wires/ signal loss/ cross talk/ etc..)
Take a look at this persons setup. ( https://hyperion-project.org/threads/apa102-ambilight-project.2701/ ). I'm fairly sure no level shifter was used and it looks to use shielded wires.
This is a level shifter I soldered together for my setup. (https://hyperion-project.org/attachments/152126-jpg.837/)
That ic socket is a prototyping board. I would not use that for the finished product.
